Forensic psychology at Mindframe
It requires a psychologist with deep expertise in psychological assessment, a thorough understanding of legal standards and processes, and the ability to communicate complex psychological findings clearly and credibly in legal contexts.
Dr. Moraes brings over 30 years of psychological experience, having worked within police services, correctional institutions, courts, and community mental health systems across Ontario.
Who forensic assessments are for
Forensic assessments are available for Children, Adolescents, and Adults.
Individuals, Agencies, and Lawyers can contact us to discuss specific forensic assessments needed.
Forensic Neuropsychology
As a Clinical Neuropsychologist & Forensic Psychologist, Dr. Moraes also provides neuropsychological assessments for legal proceedings. Her extensive background in police services and correctional settings gives her an informed perspective on complex forensic cases.
Confidentiality in forensic contexts
Forensic assessments differ from clinical assessments in important ways regarding confidentiality. In forensic contexts, the purpose of the assessment is typically to inform a third party, such as a court. Standard therapeutic confidentiality does not apply in the same way.
Dr. Moraes explains these distinctions clearly to all individuals being assessed as part of the informed consent process.
